Several weeks in to our project, we are holding a public talk at the Lighthouse Field Station in Cromarty to discuss the background to Mirror Lands and how the work – exploring the sounds and narratives engrained within the area that the Field Station is based – is progressing so far. Through video and sound recording and conversations with a wide cross-section of local people, the project aims to generate a diverse ‘ecological consciousness’ representative of the Black Isle.
We will also be screening a short documentary following the story of Stephen Hurrel and Mark Lyken‘s Sublime residencies at the Lighthouse Field Station last year. The film collages the visual landscape of Cromarty with the artists’ observations and engagement by the public.
